I take back what I said...

Oh, my!
Was I ever wrong!

Two Cent Tuesday’s suggestion to a student was to put a skirt on with those tights.   I would like to withdraw that suggestion, and immediately make a much better suggestion.

Dear Student:
I was minding my own business this morning, sitting in my car gathering my thoughts before work, when you eye-raped me.   I had suggested that you girls wear skirts with your tights, but you have proved to me that PANTS are completely necessary!   Or at least wear underwear.     It’s 32° out this morning!   I really, really do not understand how you couldn’t…feel…something was desperately wrong!   Your skirt may have been long enough in the front, but surely you know you got some booty back there…and to be honest, your skirt was still probably long enough…until you put your backpack on, which caught your skirt and rode it up, all the way up, way, way up, to show all of the campus your hiney.  Yes, indeedy doody, your booty!   While your tights were still black around your thighs, by the time they stretched around your hinder parts, you could see right through them.  One word:  Breeches!

Where Do We Go From Here?

After the last election, it is clear that America’s general population choose not to elect Godly leaders to run our great nation.   Once upon a time in America, having ungodly affiliations and perhaps supporting such deeds as abortion would have kept a candidate from the White House and out of Congress.   This is sadly no longer the case.

Proverbs 16:12
It is an abomination for kings (leaders) to commit wickedness,
For a throne (power) is established by righteousness.
(parentheses mine)

We know that God puts people in power, but he gives us (the voters) a free will.   If we choose to use our free will to put people in office who are godless in their words and actions, I believe we will stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an answer for those choices.

This is not about political parties, the left or the right.  It is simply about what’s to become of a nation who has turned her back on God.   If the Bible says it’s wrong, it’s wrong!   It is the responsibility of Christians to place the Bible as the authority in their individual lives.  But we have allowed the Bible to collect dust on our night stands, and it has spilled over into our actions and choices.

So where do we go from here?

Christians are appearing more and more like America’s minority.   I pray that if God was willing to spare Sodom and Gomorrah for the sake of 10, that he will be willing to spare America for the sake of a remnant.

Now, more than ever, is the time for Christians to be seeking God, asking for mercy, seeking Godly wisdom in our own lives. It’s not too early to be praying for Godly candidates for the next two elections, and for protection and forgiveness for the America that we are today.

And who is the America today?   At the risk of offending my real-life friends (and others), when Christians, themselves, overlook sin to vote for the party, the color, or the gender of a candidate, then we are a deceived nation looking in all the wrong places for redemption, salvation, and, yes, for change.

2 Timothy 3:  1But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Christian Brothers and Sisters, I implore you…study God’s word, do some fasting, pray God’s will for our country and our individual lives and the lives of our families.  Seek His face and let’s start to see some real change for America.

Two Cent Tuesday

Photobucket
Two Cent Tuesday looks a lot like
Monday Musings, doesn't it?

Dear Lady in the Wal*Mart  Makeup Aisle:
Yes, I’m aware of all the chemicals in makeup, and yes, I use it anyway.  I’m much more concerned about all the germs on door handles and shopping carts!   Just be glad I didn’t preach to you about all the germy hands that have touched the very products you already have in your cart.   And if you’re really worried, stay away from the medicine aisle!

Dear Co*Worker
You’re a man with a little power.   If you continuously allow certain people to break the rules, then you greatly disrespect those who follow the rules.   I’ll venture to say that your lack response to the problem is escalating the situation.

Dear Family Member of a Family Member:
Calm down!  My goodness, you’re going to have ulcers soon if you don’t stop taking everything so personally!  The world really doesn’t revolve around your beliefs, and if someone has different views, it’s not a personal insult.   If you can’t disprove what’s being said, resorting to name calling won’t help, and whining about how offended you are certainly doesn’t garner any respect, especially when you really had no reason to be worked up in the first place.

Dear Student:
My word!  Put a skirt on with those tights!   I just really don’t know what to say!

Dear Jacks:
Have you missed me?   I haven’t stopped in for breakfast in six months.   I have to say, I’m a little surprised you’re still in business!   I’m kinda kidding…but I did have a thing going on with you for many years.    I can’t say that I’ve missed you all that much.

Dear Ole Boy:
You are very, very good to me, and I appreciate you more than my words can tell you.

A Day To Pray

Mike Huckabee has spearheaded A Day to Pray for today, January 20, 2013.

Gracious Heavenly Father,

Thank You, Lord, for these United States of America.

On this weekend of the presidential inauguration, I join my brothers and sisters in Christ in asking You for wisdom for the leaders of our great nation.  I ask that you draw us close to you, that our president, congress, and the governors of these 50 states would have the wisdom to make Godly choices for America.

Help us, Your children, to not sit idly by as our freedom to worship you without fear is slowly taken away.   Give us the wisdom, strength and courage to stand up for what's right, and to stand mightily against what's wrong.  I ask for forgiveness for our sins, which are many

It's in the name of Jesus that I ask these things,

Amen.

Who Do You Think You Are?

I’m self-diagnosed AADD and a little OCD; therefore, sitting down to write isn’t always easy, and often, reading is even harder for me to accomplish.   It’s not that I can’t read or write, obviously.  My mind is constantly shooting thought darts, and every so often, I land a bulls-eye and come up with a new idea, a new poem, a new doodle.   A new blog post…

Have I ever been deeply personal in this blog?   I know I share my complaints, my sarcasm, my photos, and my political leanings…and I hope I share my Jesus enough that you know without a shadow of a doubt where I stand on Who is in control…but I read other blogs where people share (sometimes too much of) their lives, and I find those are usually blogs I revisit.

For me, “deeply personal” would involve talking about my weight, and how it has affected all of my life.   My size has been a factor for me for as long as I remember.   When I was a child, I was “too tall.”   As a teenager, I was “too tall and too big.”    Looking back at old pictures now, I realize that I looked fine, but no one could have convinced me of that then.  I wasted years thinking I was too fat; then I wasted years being too fat.   It’s a shame that I have spent a whole life being unhappy with who I am, basing “who” I am on how I look.  We are more than our physical appearance.

These pictures were taken when I was 15 years old.
I was already deep in the throes of self loathing.
Me2Circa1979MeCirca1979

I based my self-worth on my appearance; no one should do that.  Even in this blog, while I've joked about my chronic dieting, I've never talked frankly and openly about just how much my weight has affected every aspect of my life.  I have felt that people, those of you who don’t know me personally who are dropping by to read my words, would think less of me if you fully understood that I am, indeed, overweight.

My size doesn’t define me.   Neither does my height, my weight, or the color of my hair or eyes.   It doesn’t define you, either.  There are people who will be mean to others because of how they look, how they walk, something they see as differences, but others’ comments about us (or to us) do not define us, either.   What we believe about ourselves will cause us to define ourselves differently than how God defines us.  I intend to find out who I am in Him.

...And I'm Feeling Good!

Photobucket My word for 2013 is Believe...and I do!

I'm starting 2013 sixty pounds lighter!   You read that right...60 pounds gone!  I gave up sugar in August, and it's all been downhill since.   Who knew that the constant craving to eat, eat, eat, would diminish, and even evaporate, with the absence of sugar?

Last Saturday, I reached 10 pounds lost in December!
Unheard of...for me, anyway!

As you can probably guess, I'll be writing a little more about weight loss this year.   Only this time, I won't be whining about the lack of control, I'll be writing about life...experiences that I had been denied because of my self-made prison of excess weight.

2013 is going to be a good year, indeed!  But don't get the wrong idea and think that happiness depends on how much you weigh.  Obesity can make you miserable, no doubt, but Freedom brings joy.  God-given freedom!  Who the Son has made free is free indeed!   He is my Peace.

Not only is it a new year,

♫♪It's a new dawn♪♫
♪It's a new day♪
♪It's a new life♪
♫For me♫
♫♪And I'm feeling good♪♫

Have you ever "met" Ronan Parke?   I fell in love with this little sweetie from the first moment I saw him.   Why don't you take a listen?
